The jobs in the
creative media sector are not always easy to get, whether it being in film,
graphics or photography, if you’re the average person you will not stand a
chance, you will require qualifications in specific fields. The field I will
talk about is Graphics.
In the Graphic
industry you have many jobs available, from supervising and physically
conducting printing jobs to being a graphic designer. To get anywhere into this
sector you will require to have some sort of experience into the type of
field/job you are trying to go into, the job I will discuss in becoming a
graphic designer. To become a graphic designer you mainly need to show that you
are enthusiastic and passionate about what you wanting to do, to do this over
your educational years you will have to create a portfolio, this will show your
employer that you are capable of create good, artistic pieces of work. However
this will not get you the job to create a solid portfolio you will need
qualifications, the qualifications require for a graphic designer is a degree
in graphic design and to get into this you will need to have done art/graphic
in college or in any other educational establishment. Your best chance of
getting a career in the exact field that you desire a job in would be to stay
on to complete a placement year, this is learning as you experience life in a
work environment, after you have completed this placement year you will stand a
better chance of being taken on by the firm than any other competitor trying to
seek employment with that company.
You will require loads
of experience so you should defiantly think about taking part in unpaid work
for a firm to gain extra experience, as this will be worth its weight in gold
on your c.v. The pay for a graphic
designer is £14000 - £25000 yearly. The pay for a senior designer can earn up
to £45000 yearly. Obviously you will have to work as a graphic designer to
become a senior however taking the pay into consideration it will be worth it.
To stand a better chance against competitors you need to litter your c.v on as
many job websites as possible, this will not guarantee you a job in the exact
position you are seeking for however it will email you with also related jobs
in the graphic industry.
By researching into
how to gain employment in the graphics field with in the creative arts sector I
have concluded that it is possible to gain employment in graphics, even though
it is hard to seek employment in general, by taking the right steps and taking
the correct paths you should stand a better chance over any other applicants.
