Film 4 Production Log

Today i filmed my first scene of my jihad film, i filmed one of my friends dressed up in a typical terrorist outfit and he picked up a bag under a car from a dark backstreet car park, in the bag were expolsives that the terrorist had to take and use to blow some where up. The place i chose for the terrorist to blow up was Boots warehouse, the reason i used this place to blow  up because in 4 Lions the movie one of the actors says 'Lets bomb Boots, it sells condoms that make you want to bang white girls' this is the humour part of my video, the whole point of me filming a stereotypical veiw of what people know Jihad to be is to educate them of what Jihad really is. i took a number of shots from different angles so it looks like i am using multiple cameras as this gives a better effect. All my shots were done using a tripod and the camera i used to shoot my footage was a Nikon D5100.

Film 4 Ideas

For my film 4 i have decided to have a muslim brother to talk on camera about jihad. The reason i have chosen this brother to take part in my film is because i look up to him and if i have any questions about Islam this brother always is there to answer all my questions and queries. The reason i have chosen this topic is because as soon as any non Muslim hears the word Jihad or Islamic state they straight away think about Muslims running about in mountains blowing people up and extreme muslims chopping peoples hands off. This is a stereotype that everyone believes, through this video i want to go into depth about what jihad really means? why people have these views against jihad? and who is painting a bad image for Muslims.

Production Log Haiku

Today we were looking into Haiku poems, we were making Haiku films, the principle behind these films are that each paragraph in a poem have 3 lines and the first line has 5 syllable, the second line has 7 followed by the third also having 5 syllables. In our film every syllable has to be a second for example 5 second shot for the first shot, 7 for the next and 5 for the last, so basically you will end up with a 17 second film, with 3 different shots.  The issue that we had was that we didn't want to fall in the trap of keeping the films to the poems to literal. so if we had a poem that had leaves in them we didn't want to have literally a shot of a leaf for 5 seconds, this gave us a chance to be creative. 

After we understood what we had to do we searched the internet for Haiku poems, i couldn't decide on what poem i wanted to do so i printed out a few pages of them and then decided when we went out to film, this would allow us to see the sort of environment we are in to see what sort of poems are doable in our limited time and the environment we were working in.

5x5

                                                   This is my final finished 5x5!

Edit, Finish, Upload 5x5

Today i edited the 5x5 that i had shot earlier on in the week, the program that i used to edit was Final Cuut Pro, the shots that i had taken were all longer than 5 seconds as i purposly left dead time, this i knew could easily be trimmed in the editing of the film. after i made sure all shots were 5 seconds i added int he background sound, this was to loud so i made it quiter to make the film flow better.

Once i completed editing i exported the film as a project to a finished film by clicking >file >export >real time player this then finished my film.

Finally i uploaded this onto my youtube account ready for the film to be added to my blog.

5x5 Background sound

This sound i am going to have in the bacground of my 5x5, i chose to have a background sound because the day i was filming it was quite windy!

Shooting 5x5 Production Log

Today i shot my 5x5, i used my Iphone, i was initally supposed to be using a flip camera however it would be the same quality as my Iphone. because i was filming outside in a public are i did not have control over people walking past the camera so i had to redo many shots time after time again, and because i had to film a bus i had to wait some time for a bs to come. but over all i managed to complete all my 5x5 shots to a good standard.

5x5 Proposal

Synopsis:
I am going to shoot a short 5x5 that will show my audience how students of Burton College travel on a daily basis, i will do 5 shots, and all that will last 5 seconds long, so all together my film will be 25 seconds long. The film will show the different types of transport or travelling methods used by students on a daily basis.

The audience:
This video is aimed at everyone, but mainly i would say it is aimed at the College, this video can allow the College to know how students attend  by using what sort of transport. This video gives good information out to the College and the students of College because it shows how passionate and committed student are. Some students travel from out of town just to study in Burton; this should be a achievement for the college if people are leaving their own Colleges in their own towns to study in Burton College.

The big idea:
The big idea of this video is to show the staff at Burton College how students travel to get to College, different people use different forms of transport so this video can make the staff aware if a student is late there could be a valid reason as not everyone is fortunate to have a person in the family who has access to a car that can drop them off every day.  My main goal is to complete this video and have the video showing on the main board in the reception area where students make enquires. If a student came in to study from out of town they could watch this video and commute using a certain transport method, this video would make them aware that it’s not just them who travels from a distance everyone does. 

5x5 Ideas...

1. I am going to go Alton Towers on the weekend, i could take 5 shots each lasting 5 seconds of the biggest rides in the theme park

2. 5 shots of how students travel to college

3. 5 places that put Burton on the map such as Coors brewery

4. 5 best places to eat in Burton

Out of all these ideas i am going to stick with how students attend to college, this video allows college to know how their students travel.
The 5 methods of travel that students use is Walk, Bike, Bus, Car and Motorbike/Ped

This is my finished 1 minute film, it is about what youngsters think that is local to them in Burton, they think the localist thing to them to do to fill there spare time is go cruising.

CSX Freight Train Runs Over Camera

This video inspired me to use a car rather than a train, however the car i have in my video is too low and could possibly damage my camera.

This is another version that i have of Ludacris Act a Fool, the reason i have this one is because the song has many swears in and i would like the video to have the version with swears in as it wont have loads of bleeps in, so i will be using this one in my film.

I did a proposal with Paul, we had to pick a film and pretend it wasn't released and write a proposal on it. this gave me a clear indication of what sort of detail we had to put in to the proposals to get a good grade, we presented our proposals in front of the class and then had a discussion if they had a good amount of detail and if the class had to invest into the film would they after listening to the proposal, this exercise made me aware of the types of info a decent proposal should have and the depth i have to go in to have a successful.

In the morning before i came to the lesson i downloaded my soundtrack that i needed for my film....
the track that i downloaded was 2fast 2furious by Ludacris.... The reason i downloaded this track was because it is related to my 1 minute video, my 1 minute video is car related and that track is in the film 2Fast &2Furious,  this is going to be the background sound while i overlap my video on top....
